An Andean legend tells that in ancient times when women wanted to have a child, they prepared an offering to the gods. Then they climbed to the top of a mountain to deposit that offering. The mountains were considered portals between the human world and the world of the gods; in their form, the mountains connect the earth with the sky. Already at the top of the mountain, the women, in communication with the gods, composed a song. In that song, the women invited a soul to be born in the intermediate world as a human. This legend was told to the artist by her grandmother. The artist’s grandmother’s family belonged to an extinct indigenous community that was forced to move to the city due to the war. The artist, faced with her desire to be a mother, decided to prepare an offering to the gods and climb to the top of a mountain to deposit that offering. There, the artist composed a song for her son inviting him to be born.

Une légende andine raconte que dans les temps anciens, lorsque les femmes souhaitaient avoir un enfant, elles préparaient une offrande aux dieux. Puis elles grimpaient au sommet d’une montagne pour déposer cette offrande. Les montagnes étaient considérées comme des portails entre le monde des humains et le monde des dieux ; dans leur forme, les montagnes relient la terre au ciel. Au sommet de la montagne, les femmes, en communication avec les dieux, ont composé un chant. Dans ce chant, les femmes invitaient une âme à naître dans le monde intermédiaire en tant qu’humain. Cette légende a été racontée à l’artiste par sa grand-mère. La famille de la grand-mère de l’artiste appartenait à une communauté indigène disparue qui a été forcée de déménager en ville à cause de la guerre. L’artiste, confrontée à son désir d’être mère, a décidé de préparer une offrande aux dieux et de monter au sommet d’une montagne pour déposer cette offrande. Là, l’artiste a composé une chanson pour son fils l’invitant à naître.
