En la escuela el o la maestra nos enseña sobre la libertad: nos dice que somos seres libres y por tanto tenemos libertad de expresión, libertad de opinión, libertad de religión, libertad para elegir un cargo político, libertad de asociación, libertad de movimiento, libertad de decidir cómo vestir, libertad para decidir cómo queremos ser y cómo queremos actuar, siempre y cuando no hagamos daño a otras personas. Cuando crecemos descubrimos que estas libertades están constantemente amenazadas por el poder, la violencia y las armas y, a veces, por mandatos sociales que nos dicen cómo debemos ser, cómo debemos comportarnos, de quién podemos enamorarnos, etc. En la obra «Libertad», la artista Rodríguez Triana dibuja un tablero escolar con hilo y clavos negros. En esa pizarra escribe la palabra «Libertad» con los mismos materiales. Posteriormente, Rodríguez Triana tacha esa palabra con el mismo hilo casi hasta que la palabra «Libertad» ha desaparecido.

At school the teacher teaches us about freedom: he/she tells us that we are free beings and therefore we have freedom of expression, freedom of opinion, freedom of religion, freedom to choose a political position, freedom of association, freedom of movement, freedom to decide how to dress, freedom to decide how we want to be and how we want to act, as long as we do not harm other people. When we grow up we discover that these freedoms are constantly threatened by power, violence, and weapons and sometimes by social mandates that tell us how we should be, how we should behave, with whom we can fall in love, etc. In the work «Libertad», the artist Rodríguez Triana draws a school board with black thread and nails. On that board, she writes the word «Libertad» with the same materials. Later, Rodríguez Triana crosses out that word with the same thread almost until the word «Libertad» has disappeared.

À l’école, le professeur nous enseigne la liberté : il nous dit que nous sommes des êtres libres et que nous avons donc la liberté d’expression, la liberté d’opinion, la liberté de religion, la liberté de choisir une position politique, la liberté d’association, la liberté de mouvement, la liberté de décider comment s’habiller, la liberté de décider comment nous voulons être et comment nous voulons agir, tant que nous ne nuisons pas aux autres. En grandissant, nous découvrons que ces libertés sont constamment menacées par le pouvoir, la violence et les armes, et parfois par des mandats sociaux qui nous disent comment nous devons être, comment nous devons nous comporter, de qui nous pouvons tomber amoureux, etc. Dans l’œuvre «Libertad», Camila Rodríguez Triana dessine un tableau d’école avec du fil noir et des clous. Sur ce tableau, elle écrit le mot «Libertad» avec les mêmes matériaux. Ensuite Camila Rodríguez Triana raye ce mot avec le même fil presque jusqu’à ce que le mot «Libertad» ait disparu.
